Hindu Sena Calls for ASI Survey of Jama Masjid Amid Allegations of Buried Hindu Idols | Delhi News

Date:

New Delhi: Hindu Sena‘s national president Vishnu Gupta has written to the director general of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), requesting a survey of Delhi’s iconic Jama Masjid. In the letter, Gupta alleged that Hindu deities’ idols were buried within the mosque.
The Hindu Sena chief further alleged that the historic Jama mosque was constructed after the demolition of temples in Jodhpur and Udaipur. He claimed that the remains of these temples, including the idols of deities, were used in the stairs of the mosque to humiliate Hindus, supposedly by Aurangzeb.
Jama Masjid’s officials refused to comment on this issue.
Gupta stated that as the responsible authority, ASI should conduct a thorough examination of the mosque structure. The letter alleged that numerous temple remains and idols are buried beneath the mosque’s stairs. Gupta claimed that this situation affected his religious sentiments and impeded his right to worship the deities believed to be buried there.
“Your office is requested to survey Jama Masjid, Delhi so that the idols of our deities can be preserved and concrete steps can be taken to install them in the temple and the truth about Aurangzeb can be revealed to the world,” the letter reads.
ASI’s spokesperson Nandini Bhattacharya Sahu said that the organisation had no knowledge regarding the specific correspondence.
