Many Hollywood stars also expressed their sorrow over Kilmer’s passing. Director Michael Mann, who worked with him on ‘Heat,’ shared his thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “While working with Val on ‘Heat’ I always marvelled at the range, the brilliant variability within the powerful current of Val’s possessing and expressing character. The career that made Kilmer a legend
Kilmer’s journey in Hollywood was nothing short of extraordinary. He first caught attention with his performance in the comedy ‘Top Secret!’ (1984), followed by ‘Real Genius’ (1985). However, it was his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the 1986 blockbuster ‘Top Gun’ that made him a household name. He reprised the role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022), which became a huge success. In 1995, Kilmer stepped into the role of Batman in ‘Batman Forever,’ winning praise for his take on the superhero. Director Joel Schumacher once said, “For me, Val Kilmer was the best Batman.”
In 2014, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, which led to severe health struggles, including a tracheotomy that affected his ability to speak. But he didn’t let that stop him.
