Aaron Rodgers expressed his concerns about the New York Jets‘ loss against the Buffalo Bills, including an interception, drops, and miscommunications. He criticized officiating chief Adrian Hill‘s team for enforcing 22 penalties for 204 yards, the highest total of any NFL game this season. Both teams accepted 11 penalties, halting momentum and pace of play.Rodgers even criticized a call favoring New York, referencing a “South Park” reference.

Aaron Rodgers criticized chief Adrian Hill’s team for enforcing 22 penalties
The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets faced off in Week 6’s “Monday Night Football” game, with Buffalo winning 23-20. However, the game was marred by a lack of flow due to penalties, with play stopped for infractions whenever the game appeared exciting. The Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and the Jets’ Aaron Rodgers were the top quarterbacks, but the number of penalties seemed unusual.
The Bills and Jets faced off in a game with a combined 22 infractions, tied for the most in a game this season. The Bills accumulated 204 penalty yards, while the Jets accumulated 104. Some penalties, such as pass interference and egregious holding, were called. However, there were some questionable calls, such as an unnecessary roughness call on Bills edge rusher A.J. Epenesa for sacking Rodgers with 9:38 left in the third quarter. Even Rodgers disagreed with the penalty on Epenesa.
“It seemed a little ridiculous,” Rodgers said postgame. “Some of them seemed really bad, including the roughing passer on me. That’s not roughing the passer. We might as well play Sarcastaball if we’re going to call those things. And I thought the one on (Javon) Kinlaw was not roughing the passer, either.”
The reference to “Sarcastaball” originates from a Season 16 episode of “South Park” that critiqued NFL officiating. Buffalo was officiated tightly, but New York’s penalties often led to missed plays, such as a holding on Tyron Smith in the third quarter that nullified a touchdown rush.
