Jamie Lever, daughter of legendary comedian and actor Johny Lever, has carved her own path in the entertainment industry despite facing numerous challenges. While she has established herself as a talented comedian and performer, her journey has been far from easy. Recently, Jamie spoke about the harsh judgments she has faced over the years, particularly regarding her appearance.
In a recent conversation on Chhavi Mittal‘s podcast, Jamie was asked about dealing with people’s criticisms and how they affected her confidence. She admitted that she had struggled with such remarks throughout her life, recalling an incident during a photoshoot when a makeup artist made an insensitive comment about her nose. Sharing the hurtful experience, Jamie said, “One day I was doing a photoshoot, and the makeup artist said, ‘Iska cutting karna padega, naak bahut bada hai.’ It breaks you. It’s like you are never going to be good enough.”
Battling body image issues and embracing self-love
Jamie also opened up about her weight loss journey and the challenges she faced as a child. She revealed that she struggled with PCOS, which made weight management difficult. Growing up, she often felt insecure about her body, especially after being told that big hips were undesirable. Speaking about the impact of such comments, she shared, “I was always told big hips are an embarrassment, and you have to cover them up. So, during my growing-up years, I always covered my lower body with longer t-shirts and kurtis. I always had a wardrobe like that. It has taken me a lot of years to realize that this is beautiful. You know, my curves are beautiful, and people aspire to have a body like that.”
Jamie credited changing beauty standards and cultural shifts for helping her embrace her body. She also acknowledged the influence of celebrities who have redefined beauty norms, adding, “And also, I would give some credit to the Kardashians, who made the booty really famous. So after that, people were like, ‘Wow, actually, curves look beautiful.’ It has taken a lot of time to be comfortable in my skin.”

Despite facing insecurities and societal pressures, Jamie has emerged stronger and more confident. Through her candid revelations, she continues to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and love themselves.
