The Dallas Stars could be getting two of their best players back just in time for the Western Conference semifinals. Head coach Pete DeBoer indicates that forward Jason Robertson and defenseman Miro Heiskanen are nearing a return after sitting out the entire first-round series against Colorado. Their return would be a huge lift as the Stars head into facing either the Winnipeg Jets or the St. Louis Blues, coming off a thrilling Game 7 victory over the Avalanche.
Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen may be back soon
Dallas Stars’ key players Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen have been out but now, the good news. They are both “day-to-day” and might be available to play in the second round of the playoffs, said Coach Pete DeBoer. He does not know if that is Game 1, Game 3, or further ahead, but they are getting close.
Jason Robertson had to possibly think that the injury meant he would be out for some weeks after he picked it up before the last game of the regular season. He missed the entire first-round series, however, DeBoer is optimistic he will be back on the ice soon.
Miro Heiskanen has been gone longer. He injured his knee in January, in a game against the Vegas Golden Knights. He underwent surgery in February and sat out many additional games during the regular season. But he did have a tremendous year before that, recording 25 points in only 50 games and playing more than 25 minutes per game.
Stars await opponent as Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen prepare for semi-final return
The Stars defeated a grueling seven-game series against the Colorado Avalanche with a strong come-back in Game 7. Now they sit and wait for whom they’ll play next either the St. Louis Blues or the Winnipeg Jets. Should the Blues triumph, the Stars will have home-ice supremacy for the following series.
Having Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen back in the lineup would be a huge difference. The Stars played well without them, but having their leading goal-scorer and a top defenseman back would provide them with a huge advantage down the road.
DeBoer indicated that they will have a better idea of their status when they determine how much time is left until the next round. Each additional day of rest would allow both players to prepare to come back.
