In what started as a family matter, the whole saga has turned into a mess of legal blunders, with Kannada actor Dhanush Raj filing a police complaint against his wife forgetting he was physically assaulted, bullied, and threatened by his wife. Apparently, the actor has filed a complaint against his wife at the Girinagar police station in Bangalore for constantly questioning him about his whereabouts and work tours abroad, which led to incessant altercations.The actor said that the situation had come to a level where he had to seek police protection for his physical safety and mental peace.
Dhanush Raj claims suspicion over overseas travel
In his complaint, Dhanush Raj alleged that his wife, Ashrita, accused him of traveling abroad with another woman and doubted his integrity even though it was a work-related visit. As per NDTV, the actor claimed that she continued suspecting him even after he explained the intention behind his travel abroad. On his return to Bengaluru, the situation apparently escalated, and he was physically assaulted at the couple’s residence. The actor claimed he was hit over an argument and claimed his wife was even threatening to hire hooligans to kill him which left him traumatized and shocked.
Allegations include intimidation, self-harm threats, and mental distress
Dhanush Raj, skipping physical violence, even claimed emotional harassment. According to a report, he stated the police that in one of their arguments, his wife was threatening to hurt herself, including breaking the glass in the bathroom to cut her wrist. The actor further stated that all those repeated threats, harsh arguments, and fears about worsening the situation affected his mental health. He claimed that he was pushed to take this step and approached the police as he wanted help to end things before they got more problematic.
Counter FIR by wife adds complexity as police probe both sides
However, the matter has taken a turn as a counter-case has been filed by Ashrita also at the same police station. In her FIR, she alleged dowry harassment, physical and mental torture by Dhanush Raj. She stated that the couple was married on March 2, 2025, in Bengaluru and claimed that after a few weeks of cordial relationship, the complainant was subjected to harassment for dowry along with ill-treatment. She further asserted that after the panchayat intervention, once again the ill-treatment continued even after the panchayat’s conciliation.
