The press meet for the film ’29’ directed by Rathna Kumar was held in Chennai today (December 10). Karthik Subbaraj openly expressed that he did not like the comment made by Rathna Kumar about Rajinikanth at the audio launch of the film ‘Leo’. At the same time, he also showed his deep emotional closeness to Rathna Kumar.

Rathna Kumar’s journey from ‘Meyaadha Maan’ to ‘29’

Rathna Kumar, who made his creative debut in Tamil cinema with the film ‘Meyaadha Maan’, later directed films with different stories like ‘Aadai’ and ‘Gulu Gulu’. After working as a screenwriter with Lokesh Kanagaraj on blockbuster films like ‘Vikram’ and ‘Leo’, he has now created the romantic comedy film ‘29’. Vidhu, who is famous for playing the villain in the films ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ and ‘Retro’, turns into a hero through this film. Preethi Asrani, Master Mahendran, Avinash, Shenas Fatima, and many others have joined the cast in key roles.

Karthik Subbaraj calls Rathna Kumar “family”

The production side of the film is further strengthened as Karthik Subbaraj and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s respective production houses are also jointly producing. “Since ‘Meyaada Man’ was the first product of our company, Rathna kkumar has always been like one of our family,” Karthik Subbaraj said proudly in his speech. “He talks a lot outside… sometimes I don’t like it (Hinted at Rathna Kumar’s speech indirectly trolling Rajinikanth). But no matter what he does, my trust in him never changes,” he added with a laugh.

Dhanush was the first choice for ‘29’

Karthik Subbaraj also revealed that he first told the story of the film ‘29’ to actor Dhanush. “Dhanush really liked the story. But now that he’s working more in action films, we couldn’t include him in this romantic comedy,” he said. The title teaser released at the event has already received a good response from fans.
