Key bridge collapses in Karnataka, trucker rescued | India News

A four-decade-old bridge across the Kali River — a key link between Karnataka’s Karwar and Goa on NH-66 — collapsed early Wednesday. The cave-in occurred when a truck heading to Karwar was crossing it. The driver, Bala Murugan (37) from Tamil Nadu, was stranded on the truck’s bonnet. “Fishermen and our team rescued the driver. The truck was stuck atop a part of the collapsed carriageway,” said Karwar SP M Narayana.Murugan was taken to hospital, where his condition was stable.
