Kim Go Eun faced a challenging feat while preparing for ‘The Price of Confession.’ While talking to Allkpop about her latest role, the actress shared that she had a lot of elements to consider. She revealed that she had to build Mo Eun from scratch, and deliberately chose to keep most of backstory hidden to create that suspense in the audience’s mind. While further explaining how she approached the character, Go Eun shared, “At first, I approached her as a typical hedonistic psychopath, just as written. But from the very first scene, it didn’t sit right with me. She kills the dentist couple and waits to kill their son. The emotion needed there isn’t a killer’s madness—it’s resentment and rage toward those who drove her sister to death.”
Kim Go Eun explains how she had so much creative freedom with the character
Kim Go Eun molded the character the way she wanted to, however, it was a different thing to convince the directors to let her do her own thing. Sharing how she became a big part of all of the changes that the show faced, the actress revealed that, “I don’t try to convince directors blindly. I organize exactly why I interpret the character this way, anticipate all possible questions, and prepare answers in advance.”She also added that she wanted Mo Eun to be a character who would be loathed by the audience until the very end. “I hoped viewers would misinterpret that eerie stillness and see Mo Eun as a serial killer. I saw her as someone consumed by self-loathing for failing to protect her family, carrying a resigned desire to follow them in death,” she quipped.
