BHOPAL: Two policemen posted at Civil Lines police station in Datia have been suspended after a video emerged showing an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) dancing in an “objectionable” manner with women dancers at a private party. The clip, which went viral on social media, shows the ASI making obscene gestures while dancing to Bollywood songs during a birthday celebration for a constable, also from the same station. The party was held on 2 September at a hotel in Datia, where professional dancers had been invited. Datia Superintendent of Police (SP) Suraj Verma ordered the immediate suspension of both officers following the circulation of the video. This is the second such incident involving Madhya Pradesh police in recent days. In Shivpuri, an ASI posted at Bhauti police station was suspended after a reel showed him dancing with a wanted criminal, Rohit Parihar, alias Solid, and a young woman. The criminal is reportedly facing multiple cases and is on the police watchlist. The video, shared on Instagram, also shows a beer can placed on a table as the trio danced to lyrics that reportedly referenced evading police custody. Shivpuri SP Aman Singh Rathore described the ASI’s behaviour as “unbecoming of service” and has ordered a departmental probe. Both cases are under detailed investigation, and senior police officials have indicated that further disciplinary action may follow.
