HYDERABAD: Marut Drone Academy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyderabad-based Marut Dronetech Pvt Ltd, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Unati Agri Allied and Marketing Multi-State Cooperative Society Limited (UAMMCL) to set up the first drone academy in rural Punjab.
To be called Unati Marut Drone Academy, the academy will be rural Punjab’s first remote pilot training organisation (RPTO) and will be set up at MRPD Govt College at Talwara in Hoshiarpur district.
The drone academy will train 200 people per year in various drone-related courses such as the DGCA certified drone training course, agriculture drone spraying, and drone repair & maintenance course.
According to Marut Drones, the move is in line with the objective of making India a drone hub by 2030 and promoting skill development in rural areas.
UAMMCL founder Jyoti Saroop said the DGCA approved drone pilot training is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Namo Drone Didi’ scheme and will upskill women as well as local youth and farmers.
Marut Drone Academy CEO Sai Kumar Chinthala said the adoption of drone technology in the region will create numerous job and business opportunities, offering quick and profitable returns on investment.
With India’s drone industry projected to require 1 lakh pilots by 2024, Marut Drone Academy said it has already trained over 1,000 drone pilots and is working towards building an ecosystem for drone education in the country.
