Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, headlined by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, continues to astonish the trade with yet another weekend surge. On Day 37 (its sixth Saturday), the film clocked Rs 75 lakh as per Sacnilk, a more than 100% jump from its sixth Friday take of Rs 35 lakh, an upswing of roughly 114%. With this spike, Saiyaara has zoomed past the Rs 326 crore India net mark, standing tall at Rs 326.9 crore after 37 days. What’s remarkable is the film’s endurance since its July release. Through multiple big-ticket challengers,Mahavatar Narsimha, Son of Sardaar 2, Dhadak 2, Coolie and War 2.Saiyaara has kept its core audience intact, finding fresh legs each weekend. The trajectory is a case study in strong word-of-mouth, soulful music, and an emotional arc that continues to pull in family audiences and couples well into the sixth week.Everyone had thought that the film with the release of Coolie and War 2, Saiyaara has ended its theatrical run but lukewarm response to both big budget films has seen a renewed interest in Saiyaara with many cinemas chains adding more shows. Week-by-week scorecard: Saiyaara zoomed off with a stellar Week 1 of Rs 172.75 crore, driven by a superb opening weekend (Rs 21.5 crore, Rs 26 crore, Rs 35.75 crore) and excellent weekday retention. The second week added Rs 107.75 crore, confirming that the opening wasn’t a flash in the pan Saturday and Sunday in Week 2 powered the film into the Rs 280-crore zone by Day 14. The third week contributed Rs 28.25 crore, enough to push Saiyaara past the Rs 300-crore milestone early in Week 3. Natural softening followed: Week 4 brought in Rs 14.1 crore, and Week 5 added Rs 2.95 crore. Yet, even after the five-week mark, the film refused to bow out quietly, notching Rs 35 lakh on Day 36 (sixth Friday) and Rs 75 lakh on Day 37 (sixth Saturday) to land at Rs 326.9 crore. The film still has some steam left as with no big release this week gives it a smooth run. Next week it will see competition from another modern lover story headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in Tushar Jalota’s Param Sundari. The music of the film by Sachin-Jigar has been topping the charts since its release.
