TV star and actress Mouni Roy was recently seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Showtime‘ and has completed shooting for her upcoming film ‘The Virgin Tree‘. The actress made her theatrical debut alongside Akshay Kumar in :Gold’ in 2016. Once a celebrated television actress and one of the highest-paid female actors, Mouni decided to transition from TV to film at the peak of her career.
When asked if it was challenging to leave behind a successful TV show to pursue feature films, Mouni told IndiaToday that it was tough giving up a successful show and starting all over again. Television has given her so much, for which she is incredibly grateful. She credited the sphere of TV for becoming who she is today, but as an actress, moving from one medium to another was a conscious decision to grow her skills.

Mouni explained that while she once starred in TV shows that revolved around her, she now chooses impactful roles in OTT and movies, regardless of screen time. She shared that although it was challenging to give up longer screen time for more impactful and substantial roles, she adapts quickly by unlearning and learning new things.She added that her family and friends always advise her to adapt and observe really fast. Mouni expressed that she never takes her work for granted and deeply cherishes the love and respect she receives. She stays grounded by remembering her roots in Cooch Behar and uses real-life experiences as inspiration. She is willing to unlearn and learn anew every day, approaching each day as if she were a newcomer.
