Producer Mukesh Bhatt, who along with his brother Mahesh Bhatt co-founded Vishesh Films, recently got candid about his strained family ties and how they have affected his personal life. The Bhatt brothers, who once delivered some of Bollywood’s biggest hits like Aashiqui, Sadak, Murder, and Raaz, parted ways professionally in 2021 following a fallout. Since then, Mukesh has kept a low profile, but in a recent interview, he opened up about how the rift impacted him emotionally.
‘I felt bad not being invited to Alia ’s wedding’
Speaking to Lehren Retro, Mukesh Bhatt revealed that he wasn’t invited to his niece Alia Bhatt’s wedding with Ranbir Kapoor. Expressing his feelings, he shared, “I will be a hypocrite if I say I didn’t feel bad. Of course, I felt bad. I love Alia a lot and not just her, even Shaheen. So when she got married, I thought meri bachi ki shaadi hai (my daughter is getting married). I was very much wanting to be there.”
Yearning to meet Raha
Mukesh also mentioned that he has yet to meet Alia and Ranbir’s daughter, Raha, who turned three this year. “When I got to know that Alia is pregnant and then she had a baby, meri aankhein taras gayi Raha ko dekhne ke liye (my eyes yearned to see Raha). I love kids a lot,” he said with emotion.
Choosing not to cause discomfort
When asked if he tried to reconnect with Alia, Mukesh explained that he held back out of consideration for her. “I didn’t even try because I didn’t want to put her in a position of discomfort. I didn’t text her, but maine dil se dua de di (I blessed them from my heart),” he concluded.
