Mumbai court orders FIR against Ali Abbas Zafar and team over ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ row

Date:

The controversies surrounding ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan‘, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, have taken a legal turn as a Mumbai court recently directed the Bandra police station to file an FIR against the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar, co-producer Himanshu Mehra, and others.
According to Pinkvilla, this follows a complaint filed by veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, alleging cheating and non-payment of dues.
Bhagnani, the founder of Pooja Entertainment and a prominent figure in Bollywood, initially filed his complaint in September 2024. However, after no action was taken by the police, he approached the court seeking justice. The court has now ordered an FIR to be registered under multiple sections of the IPC, including Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and others.
The dispute reportedly stems from financial disagreements over the production of the high-budget action film. While Bhagnani alleged non-payment of dues, sources suggest the conflict also involved mismanagement during the film’s production. Despite its star-studded cast, including Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F, the movie failed to perform at the box office, adding to the tensions.
This development has reignited debates about the challenges of large-scale productions and financial disputes in Bollywood. With the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, emphasizing speedy resolution of criminal cases, further legal proceedings in this matter are expected to unfold soon.
Vashu Bhagnani, known for producing iconic hits like ‘Coolie No. 1’ and ‘Hero No. 1’, remains a significant figure in the industry.
