Nikki Haley’s son says the winning of socialist Zohran Mamdani in New York shows how deeply frustrated young Americans have become. The 24-year-old Indian-origin said that Republicans themselves are partly to blame for neglecting concerns of people in their twenties. In an interview with The New York Post, Nalin Haley said his own friends are struggling in the US market economy, even with strong degrees. “My friends graduated with great degrees from great schools, and a year and a half later, none of them have a job. And that makes me upset because they didn’t do anything wrong. They did everything they were supposed to,” he said.
He added that young voters who backed Mamdani are facing the same economic pain, only with different ideas for how to fix it, which shows the job crisis exists with or without Republican governance: “My issue is that the Democrats are listening to the younger people and it’s time for the Republicans to do the same.”According to him, youngsters tend to experiment between governments to see what works best for them, and he believes the Democrats are doing a better job of listening to them than Republicans, which he says contributed to Mamdani’s victory.Nalin has emerged as one of the biggest MAGA loudmouths after his pro “America First” stance seen in recent weeks. He wants to ban H1-B completely, something even President Trump currently denies. He says naturalised citizens should not hold office, believes dual citizenship is a stupid idea, and argues that all legal and illegal immigration should be halted. He justified his ideas by saying that foreigners are coming and hijacking jobs in US, leaving native Americans jobless.Nalin has shared his controversial opinions on podcasts where he expressed his views on immigration and foreign policy that are far to the right of his mother. He said this divide is normal. “I’m just from a different generation, so I have different viewpoints than my mom,” he said. Nikki Haley is the former US ambassador to the United Nations and former South Carolina governor. She was Donald Trump’s last major challenger in the 2024 GOP primary before exiting the race and distancing herself from MAGA politics.
