National School of Drama (NSD) director Chittaranjan Tripathy has lauded Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, emphasizing his theatrical roots as the foundation of his global success.
In an interview with PTI, Tripathy described Khan as a “natakwala” first and a superstar later, highlighting his journey from an ordinary background to international stardom.
Tripathy, a renowned figure in Indian theatre, film, and television, expressed deep admiration for Khan’s unwavering self-belief and his unique approach to acting. He noted that Khan’s theatrical background has profoundly shaped his on-screen persona, contributing significantly to his distinct style and global appeal.
“I consider him a natakwala first, he is a superstar later,” Tripathy stated, emphasizing Khan’s strong foundation in theatre. He acknowledged the courage it takes to carve a unique path in the competitive entertainment industry, commending Khan’s unwavering belief in his own abilities.
Tripathy further observed that Shahrukh Khan’s journey resonates with him on a personal level, despite their differing career trajectories. Both hailing from theatre backgrounds, Tripathy sees a reflection of his own experiences in Khan’s remarkable rise to fame.
