Pawan Kalyan’s much-hyped action entertainer ‘They Call Him OG’ is finding it tough to sustain momentum after a strong start. The film, which opened to impressive numbers, is now slowing down considerably as it completes its first week in theatres.
Day 7 brings just Rs 7 crore
According to early estimates by the Sacnilk website, ‘They Call Him OG’ earned around Rs 7 crore net in India on its seventh day across all languages. This takes its total collections to approximately Rs 161.85 crore. The Telugu version continues to contribute a major share of earnings. While Tamil and Hindi versions are showing minimal traction. Compared to its opening weekend highs, the mid-week numbers mark a noticeable dip. With the audiences now having a major alternative in Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, ‘OG’ is expected to face more competition at the box office.
Occupancy trends remain modest
The film recorded an overall 21.49% occupancy in Telugu states on Wednesday. Morning shows stood at 13.99%, but numbers improved slightly during evening (23.57%) and night shows (26.40%). In Tamil Nadu the occupancy was much lower at just 8.49% overall. The night shows peaked at only 9.30%. Meanwhile, the Hindi version recorded a disappointing 5.70% occupancy.
Can Pawan Kalyan’s star power create magic?
With ‘OG’ finding a good competitor – ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, which is getting good early reaction, the biggest question for the Sujeeth’s directorial is whether PK’s star power will help in driving the box office collections till Rs 200 crore mark.Featuring Priyanka Arul Mohan, Emraan Hashmi, Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, and Sriya Reddy in key roles, ‘They Call Him OG’ has received mixed responses.
