One sentenced 10 years of imprisonment in snatching case in Kurukshetra | Chandigarh News

KURUKSHETRA: The court of district and sessions judge (DSJ) Aradhana Sahni of Kurukshetra sentenced Vinod Kumar alias Gorkha, resident of Dera Ladwa in the district, accused of snatching, to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000.
Giving information, district attorney Advocate Mainpal Singh said that in her complaint to the police on June 15, 2023, the woman of Ladwa told that she works in Anganwadi in Potli village in Yamunanagar district.
On the evening of June 15, at around 3 pm, she was coming to her house.
“When she reached near the Municipal Council office in Ladwa, at that time a young boy snatched the gold earrings from her ears and ran away. A case was registered at Ladwa police station”, said Mainpal Singh.
He said accused Vinod Kumar alias Gorkha was arrested in this case.
He said on July 10, while hearing the case regularly, the court of DSJ Aradhana Sahni, on the basis of witnesses and evidence, sentenced Vinod Kumar alias Gorkha to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 under Section 379-B (punishment for snatching) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In case of not paying the fine, he will have to undergo an additional 3 months of imprisonment.
