Paris Olympics: Tennis star Coco Gauff ‘concerned’ about height difference with fellow USA flagbearer LeBron James | Paris Olympics 2024 News

Date:

NEW DELHI: Women’s tennis star Coco Gauff jokingly expressed her concerns regarding the notable height disparity between herself and LeBron James, as they are set to jointly carry the United States flag at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
Gauff, standing at 1.75 meters (5 feet 9 inches), and James, who towers at 2.06 meters (6 feet 9 inches), were chosen by their fellow US athletes for this honour, which will take place during the ceremony along the river Seine.
Gauff humorously noted her apprehension about the height difference, especially since she initially believed there would be two flags instead of one to be shared.
“I am a little bit concerned about the height difference. I thought it was two flags but I saw pictures (of previous Olympics) and they’re holding it together,” Gauff humorously said, as quoted by Reuters.
Furthermore, Gauff, who is the world’s second-ranked tennis player, shared her admiration for James, a four-time NBA MVP, and her anticipation of meeting him in person.
Despite having watched numerous basketball games, including those of James’s team, and seeing him in person on several occasions, Gauff has not yet had the opportunity to meet James directly.
She candidly expressed feeling starstruck about the prospect of meeting one of her idols, to the extent of doubting her confidence to engage in activities such as recording a TikTok video with him.
