Prabhas’s ‘The Raja Saab’ struggles to cross half a million mark in advance booking in North America | Telugu Movie News

Date:

As anticipation builds for Prabhas’s ‘Raja Saab,’ which has already generated impressive advance sales of over $425,000 in North America, shadows of concern are also emerging. With a daunting $10 million break-even goal and the rapid rise of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan,’ currently dominating premiere ticket sales, the stakes are high for ‘Raja Saab’ to reclaim its box office glory.

The Raja Saab starring Prabhas, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar , Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani- directed by Maruthi is beginning to show tangible momentum at the North American box office, with its USA premiere advance sales gaining pace. With just five days to go for premieres, romantic-horror entertainer has now clocked in over USD 425,000 in USA advance sales from over 1000 shows and selling nearly 15000 tickets. Including Canada- the North American collection stands at USD 445,000.A closer look at the state-wise breakup reveals where the strength is coming from- Texas is leading the pack followed by California, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virgina and Washington . Language-wise, the film is currently tracking entirely in Telugu and it will not be having a release in Hindi- particularly this would be the reason behind the slow growth of the film in advance booking Prabhas has a huge fan following in Hindi as well and it is the Hindi audience that has supported Prabhas be it in India or in North America. The trend for the film seems worrying though on two fronts, first being that the break even for the film is pegged as USD 10 million and second front in the release of Thalapathy Vijay‘s Jana Nayagan on the same day. It is going to be Vijay’s final film before he embarks upon his political career and despite it beginning its advance booking much later than The Raja Saab, it has already crossed half a million mark for its premiere day shows. If The Raja Saab doesn’t perform well, it would be doubts over Prabhas’s box office hold as he just lost his spot as the second highest grossing Indian film of all time in North America for Kalki 2898 AD to Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar.
