As Qatar gears up for its National Day celebrations, the Ministry of Interior has issued clear guidelines for vehicle decorations to ensure safety and compliance. The rules, covering December 14 to 20, 2025, are designed to allow festive displays while keeping traffic regulations and public safety intact.
Decoration period and vehicle guidelines
The Ministry of Interior has specified that the approved period for decorating vehicles is from December 14 to December 20, 2025. During this time, drivers are welcome to showcase their festive spirit, but certain restrictions must be strictly followed.
- Window restrictions: Vehicles must not have tinted or coloured front or rear windshields. The driver’s side and front passenger side windows also cannot be tinted.
- Original vehicle color: The original color of the vehicle must remain unchanged. Any attempts to repaint or cover the car with a different base color for National Day celebrations are prohibited.
These measures aim to maintain visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians alike.
Decoration placement rules
The Ministry has emphasized that while decorations are encouraged, they cannot compromise vehicle identification or safety features.
- Licence plates: Decorations must not cover or obscure front and rear licence plates. This ensures that vehicles remain identifiable by authorities.
- Sticker content: Any written stickers or messages applied to vehicles must be relevant to Qatar National Day. Messages unrelated to the celebrations are not permitted.
These rules ensure that the festive mood does not interfere with law enforcement or traffic monitoring. The MoI has reinforced that these regulations are mandatory, and drivers should plan their decorations accordingly. By following the guidelines, participants can celebrate safely and legally, contributing to a vibrant yet controlled festive environment.
