R Madhavan shares hilarious meme which subtly highlights Akshaye Khanna stealing away all the limelight and praise for ‘Dhurandhar’ as compared to his character – WATCH VIDEO |

Date:

Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ released in cinemas on December 5, the film has been the talk of the town. While every actor in the film, Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt has gotten a great response, it is Akshaye Khanna who stole the show as he played the character of Rehman Dakait. This has sparked a meme fest on the internet. Amid the buzz surrounding the film, a meme shared by co-star R Madhavan has triggered a new round discussion. Rather than issuing a statement or giving an interview, Madhavan chose to express himself through a meme posted on social media. The post appeared to subtly point out how certain performances can go unnoticed when the spotlight is firmly fixed elsewhere. Many fans interpreted it as a quiet reference to Madhavan’s own restrained yet impactful performance in the film. The meme is sourced from a scene in ‘Ford v Ferrari’. It features Madhavan positioned to one side while Akshaye Khanna’s character stands at the centre, receiving applause and attention from a crowd. As Madhavan watches, another character tips his hat in his direction. The text superimposed on the image reads “True cinephile” and “remarkable transformation on screen”, highlighting Madhavan’s work without overtly singling out anyone.

Netizens reacted to it. A user said, “He will get his due in the second part. Hopefully Rakesh Bedi too.” Another one said, “He acted so well that people don’t even realised that he was R Madhavan.” Meanwhile in a recent interview, Madhavan has reacted to the bad ratings of the film and also slammed critics who pre-maturely bury a film by calling it a ‘disaster’.Talking about the film and some of the ratings, Madhavan said during a chat with Puja Talwar, “When I heard Dhurandhar and saw the immaculate research that had been done by Aditya Dhar, the fearlessness of the man, the uniqueness of his storytelling, these were the signs I got before the release of my film. I knew that this was going to impact society. There will be people who will first give it very bad ratings, and then there will be people who will suddenly go and wonder, “Wow, this happened.” I’m not saying this out of spite, but it’s time to evolve as actors. I don’t want people to see me as the hero. I think I am. So how do I change? I think that change is required by everybody in the industry, which is why I knew that this is going to be iconic. Full credit to the makers for visualising me in the role they did.”
