Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh, is on an absolute tear in North America. What began as a strong debut has now officially turned into a full-fledged box office takeover, with the film racing past USD 2 million milestone within its first three days, a feat only a handful of Bollywood films achieve with such velocity. After opening to an impressive USD 522,000 on Day 1, the film displayed remarkable strength on Day 2, pulling in USD 852,000 and taking its two-day total to a solid USD 1.37 million.Day 3 also performed on the exact same lines as Day 2 where till early evening the film had crossed USD USD 750,000, effortlessly pushing its cumulative haul past USD 2 million. The performance of the film is in alignment with Ranveer Singh’s formidable connection with the North American audience. Among the top six highest-grossing Hindi films in the region, two belong to him, Padmaavat ( USD 12.17 million ) and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani( USD 10.6 million) cementing his status as one of the bankable Indian stars in the circuit. Paired with Aditya Dhar’s knack for high-impact storytelling, last showcased in the blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike, and backed by a powerhouse ensemble including Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Gaurav Gera, Dhurandhar is proving irresistible for diaspora audiences.Back home, Dhurandhar is matching its overseas fire. With a massive Day 1 of Rs 28 crore and stellar growth on Day 2 ( Rs 32 crore ) and Day 3 ( Rs 43 crore) , the film has positioned itself as one of the year’s biggest openers. The combined domestic and international performance has now placed Dhurandhar firmly among the strongest global openers for both Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar. All eyes are on how the film performs on Monday, a crucial indicator of long-term hold.
