A lot of times, this silence is used as a tool of punishment when perspectives don’t match, or one tries to draw boundaries. She mentioned, “They are silently “teaching” you that your voice is dangerous, and that speaking up will clearly cost you connection with them.”Trishala added that “Silence used as punishment is abuse” cannot be considered the right course of action. She advised that people who are in such situations should take a stand and protect their peace of mind. “Real relationships don’t teach you lessons through pain; they heal through communication,” she shared. At the same time, she highlighted that choosing silence to cool down and have better communication goes a long way. “I need a few hours to collect myself, so I don’t say something hurtful,” Trishala quoted.“Silence that protects your nervous system is self-respect.
