Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s ‘Vadh 2’ gets new poster, theatrical release locked for February |

Date:

‘Vadh 2’, a spiritual successor to Vadh, reunites Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, builds on moral ambiguity, and earned strong applause at IFFI 2025; it releases on February 6, 2026, while the original followed Shambhunath Mishra, a retired teacher driven by harassment and hardship to commit a life‑altering crime.

The makers of Vadh 2 have unveiled a new poster featuring Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, around a month ahead of the film’s theatrical release. The poster, shared on Instagram by Neena Gupta and Luv Films, carried the caption: “Jaaniye iss vadh ka sach. One month to go for #Vadh2. In cinemas on 6th Feb.”

Poster hints at deeper themes

The new poster captures Mishra and Gupta in a quiet, contemplative moment, hinting at the film’s layered narrative. Steering clear of overt drama, it subtly foregrounds themes of morality, perception, and the fragility of truth—suggesting that reality in Vadh 2 may depend as much on perspective as on facts.

Spiritual sequel and makers

Written and directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vadh 2 is positioned as a spiritual successor to Vadh rather than a direct sequel. While it introduces a fresh storyline, the film aims to retain the original’s thought-provoking themes and emotional depth. It is produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under the Luv Films banner.

Festival reception and release date

The buzz around the film has steadily grown since its gala premiere at the International Film Festival of India last year. At the 56th edition in 2025, Vadh 2 reportedly played to a packed house and received prolonged applause, further reinforcing Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s standing as two of the most respected performers in Indian cinema. The film is now slated for a theatrical release on February 6, 2026.

Story of the first ‘Vadh’

The first Vadh revolves around Shambhunath Mishra, a retired schoolteacher grappling with financial distress while living with his wife, Manju. Their troubles escalate when they mortgage their house to fund their son’s education abroad, only for him to abandon them. As a ruthless moneylender continues to harass Shambhunath, he is eventually pushed to commit a crime that alters their lives forever. The film was widely praised for its restrained storytelling and powerful performances by Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta, Saurabh Sachdeva, Manav Vij, and others.
