Sara Arjun, who made her debut as a leading lady with Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar, is basking in the film’s massive success. The 20-year-old actor, who has been working in cinema since childhood, played Yaleena opposite Ranveer Singh in the film, which has emerged as one of the year’s biggest box office successes, collecting Rs 759 crore net so far.Amid the film’s stellar run, Sara took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt note thanking the audience for the overwhelming love and support.

‘You proved otherwise’: Sara on audiences and long-form storytelling

Addressing viewers as “my strongest Dhurandhars,” Sara reflected on the often-repeated belief that audiences no longer have the patience for detailed, long-form narratives. She wrote, “For a long time, there has been a narrative that audiences no longer have the patience for long-form storytelling, that attention spans have shortened, that cinema no longer finds its place. But you proved otherwise.”She added that the audience reminded the industry of its true power, saying, “You reminded everyone of the true strength of an audience and what happens when people come together to support something they genuinely believe in.”

‘Every bit of love carried this film forward’

Crediting the film’s journey entirely to viewers, Sara wrote, “The journey of Dhurandhar has been what it is because of you. Every bit of love, every moment you showed up, carried this film forward and I cannot thank you enough.”She also spoke about the unpredictability of audience response, calling it a beautiful part of filmmaking. “As artists and makers, we can control every part of the process, but we have no control over the audience and that’s beautiful,” she noted.

‘I bow my head with gratitude’

Overwhelmed by the response to her performance, Sara admitted that the encouragement has left a deep impact on her. “None of your love has gone unnoticed or unfelt. The warmth, encouragement, and kindness that have come my way have left me overwhelmed with gratitude,” she wrote.She added, “I bow my head in front of God, and in front of you, with a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

‘I am only just beginning’

Acknowledging that Dhurandhar is just the start of her journey as a leading actor, Sara said the early validation has strengthened her resolve. “I am only just beginning, and to receive this kind of encouragement so early for a film I am a part of and for the work I’m trying to do means more to me than I can put into words. It strengthens me,” she shared.Reflecting on the craft, she concluded, “At the end of the day, acting is a performative art. We do what we do so that someone out there feels something real.”
