Filmmaker Farah Khan, who was visibly emotional after learning about Satish Shah’s demise, was among the many celebrities who attended his funeral in Mumbai on Sunday. In a clip from the venue, Farah appeared upset with the paparazzi for filming intimate moments and was seen expressing her disappointment over the intrusion. Satish Shah’s funeral saw family members, friends, and colleagues from the film and television industry gather to bid the veteran actor a final farewell. Farah was seen leaving after paying her respects and speaking to Shah’s close friend, Ashoke Pandit. As she approached the exit, she noticed the paparazzi recording her and, in a low, sad tone, remarked, “Bas yahi karo tumlog… Poora time yehi karo (Keep doing this only... spend all your time doing just this),” before walking away.

Star-studded farewell

The cremation in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon was attended by industry veterans including Naseeruddin Shah and his wife Ratna Pathak Shah, who had co-starred with Satish in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Other cast members from the beloved show, such as Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, Sumeet Raghavan, Anang Desai, Paresh Ganatra, producer JD Majethia, writer-director Aatish Kapadia, and actor-director Deven Bhojani, were also present.Close friends and colleagues like Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Swaroop Sampat, Suresh Oberoi, and Poonam Dhillon paid their respects, alongside other members of the film fraternity including Neil Nitin Mukesh, Dilip Joshi, Jackie Shroff, Ali Asgar, Tiku Talsania, Sudhir Pandey, Sharat Saxena, and Avatar Gil.

A personal loss for his family

Satish Shah passed away on Saturday at the age of 74 following a kidney ailment. He is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah, a designer.“He (Ramesh) has been like his (Shah) son. He has been with the couple for close to 40 years. It’s a personal loss for him. He has devoted his entire life to them. Now, he has to take care of Madhu ji, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. She doesn’t recognise people. She only realised this morning about (Shah’s demise),” film producer Ashoke Pandit told PTI.The veteran actor leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable performances across film and television. His co-stars and colleagues remembered him not just for his comic genius but also for his warmth, professionalism, and the laughter he brought to millions.
