‘Son of Sardaar 2’ box office collections day 14: Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur starrer holds steady in second week; nears Rs 46 crores | Hindi Movie News

Date:

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ has wrapped up two weeks at the box office with an estimated Rs 45.16 crore India net collection. The film, which opened on a high note with Rs 7.25 crore on its first Friday, gained momentum over its debut weekend, peaking at Rs 9.25 crore on Sunday. As reported by the Sacnilk website, the collections saw a steep drop on Monday, dipping to Rs 2.35 crore. However, steady weekday earnings ensured a strong first-week total of Rs 33 crore.

Second week shows strength with weekend push

The second Friday brought in Rs 1.25 crore. It was the Saturday jump to Rs 4 crore that signaled the film’s staying power. Sunday followed closely at Rs 3.75 crore, aided by strong family turnout and positive word-of-mouth. While weekdays in week two slowed to under Rs 1.3 crore per day, the film maintained enough traction to keep audiences trickling in. The Day 14 collection is expected to add modestly to the tally, bringing the film tantalizingly close to the Rs 46 crore mark.

Our verdict – An Overstuffed Sequel That Delivers Laughs In Parts

ETimes gave the film a rating of 3 stars out of 5 and an excerpt from our review reads, “Ajay Devgn is convincing as the endearing and guileless Sardar, shining in both comedy and emotional scenes. Mrunal Thakur, as the fiery and outgoing Rabia, holds her own. Ravi Kishan delivers a knockout performance as the businessman-turned-gangster who is exasperated with his father Ranjeet Singh’s (Sharat Saxena) colourful ways. Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh deserve special mention for their strong onscreen chemistry and impeccable comic timing together. Deepak Dobriyal plays the role of a transgener woman perfectly, though Sanjay Mishra remains underutilised, with characterisation that fall short of his talent.”

An ensemble cast adding to the appeal

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is not just an Ajay Devgn vehicle; it’s powered by a colorful ensemble including Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul Dev, and Ashwini Kalsekar.
