Thanja Vuur took to her Instagram account to share a video in which she applauded Indian fans for their love for the sport — regardless of gender. She began the video by saying, “India, you win this World Cup. Your congratulations is coming. Just give me a few minutes because first I’m gonna tell you why. The reason is you.”In the video, the actress pointed out how Indian cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, VVS Laxman, and others showed up in the stands to cheer for the women’s team, while none of South Africa’s iconic players were present. She said, “Who the hell showed up from South Africa? These ex-cricket players that you love from South Africa, the men… where were they? Oh, this event was not high-profile enough for them.”She went on to add, “Smriti Mandhana and the girls worked so hard. They did so well. But what does it feel like when none of these people show up? Did they just think we were gonna lose? Is that the message they’re sending?”Watch the video here. The video received mixed reactions from cricket fans in the comments section — while some agreed with her statements, others felt she was being too harsh.
