The writer replied, “Slow and steady wins the race. Mattson Tomlin expresses his interest in penning a story ‘Spider-Man 4’
For the unversed, ‘The Batman’ screenwriter has been wanting to pen a story for Tobey’s comeback with a fourth instalment, in which he will be seen “juggling being a husband and father.”Back in July 2025, he had shared the same on his X account. When a user asked what could be the possible storyline, Tomlin replied, “Honestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey’s Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father. Spider-Man as a father is where I gravitate towards, given the last 8 films.”

Sam Raimi and Kristen Dunst on exploring the idea
Due to creative differences, the producers decided to end the franchise helmed by Sam Raimi after the third film, even though plans to bring the fourth instalment in May 2011 were already in progress. Instead, it was rebooted with Andrew Garfield in 2012.In April 2022, Sam Raimi stated that he is open to helming another Spider-Man project. Even Kristen Dunst, who played the role of Mary-Jane Watson in the trilogy, expressed her openness to explore the storyline of being parents in the fourth instalment.
