‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ released in cinemas on October 2 and saw a big clash with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Of course, the scale of the latter is huge and so was the release in five langauges, but the film has been smashing records at the box office and collected more than Rs 300 crore in a week. However, ‘SSKTK’ is quite behind when it comes to the numbers but as lead actors Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor had told ETimes that the budget, scale of their film is much smaller so they do not even expect the kind of numbers which ‘Kantara’ can make. ‘SSKTK’ opened at Rs 9.25 crore on day 1. The film saw a drop on day 2 which is Friday and made only Rs 5.5 crore. But there was growth as compared to that over the weekend. It made Rs 7.5 crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday each. It began seeing a drop from Monday onwards, gradually and started making in the Rs 2-3 crore range. On Tuesday, it made Rs 3.25 crore as it must have benefitted from the discounted ticket prices. On Wednesday, it collected Rs 2.25 crore and on Thursday, which is day 8, it garnered Rs 2 crore. Thus, the first week collection of the film was Rs 41.1 crore. On Friday, it collected Rs 2.25 crore and it saw some growth on Saturday which is day 10, making Rs 3.25 crore. The total collection of the film is now Rs 46.6 crore, according to Sacnilk.
The film has remained steady through the week and it will hopefully stay the same even in the coming week in order to slowly, steadily win the race in its own right.
