Mumbai Police have solved the theft case at actor Abhimanyu Singh’s residence with the arrest of a 40-year-old man who allegedly has a long criminal record. According to a PTI report citing officials, valuables worth Rs 1.37 crore have been recovered following the arrest.The accused, identified as Manoj Mohan Rathod from Palghar district, was tracked and nabbed after sustained technical surveillance. Police investigations revealed that Rathod is allegedly linked to at least 14 other theft cases registered across Mumbai and its adjoining areas.
How the theft was carried out
As per police officials, the theft took place at Abhimanyu Singh’s bungalow in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West), on the intervening night of December 29 and 30. The accused allegedly entered the house through a bathroom window and escaped with gold, diamond and silver ornaments, cash, and the safe in which the valuables were stored.The case came to light after a complaint was filed by the actor’s 82-year-old mother, following which an FIR was registered against an unknown person.
Recovery leads police to jeweller and accused’s residence
Using technical inputs, a police team traced the suspect to a locality in Palghar and kept the area under surveillance for two days before making the arrest on Tuesday.During questioning, the accused reportedly informed the police that some of the stolen ornaments had been kept with a jeweller, while the remaining items were hidden at his residence. Based on this information, the police recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 1.37 crore.

Abhimanyu Singh made his acting debut with the 2001 film Aks and has since carved a niche for himself across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada cinema. He was most recently seen in They Call Him OG. He will next appear in Shravan Tiwari’s Cocaine, a film he has co-produced with his wife, Sargam Singh. The actor is also part of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947, which stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta and is produced by Aamir Khan.
