Fans were left worried when Vijay’s much-awaited film ‘Jana Nayagan’ was postponed. The film was planned to release on January 9. On Wednesday evening, the makers officially announced the delay. The production house KVN Productions shared the update on social media. They said the release is postponed “due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.” The film does not have a new release date yet. Many fans were already ready for celebrations. The sudden news came as a shock. Jana Nayagan was expected to release on around 5,000 screens worldwide. Now the reports from India Today says that the censor verdict for the film will be out on 10:30 am on this day.
What happened in the censor case
The delay came after an important update from the Madras High Court. A petition was filed against the CBFC for withholding the censor certificate of the film. On Wednesday, after hearing the arguments, the court reserved its order. Reportedly the court said the verdict can only be announced on January 9. The verdict will be given at 10:30 am. The court was informed that one dissenting member of the examining committee raised objections and sent a complaint to the CBFC chairman. The other four members had suggested a U/A 16+ certificate. Since the objection was not cleared, the matter went to the revising committee. Because of this, the film could not get clearance in time.

Soon after the postponement, many actors and fans shared their feelings online. Actor Harish Kalyan tweeted, “As a Vijay sir fan and a cinema lover Jananayagan’s delay hurts badly. But the celebrations are only postponed. Actor Shaam shared a sketch of Vijay and wrote, “Seen this before. Trust the process. This is just the beginning. THE NAME IS VIJAY ‘Always’” Actor Nandaa tweeted, “A film is not about one person. These obstacles will only further increase the love, influence, and strength that the people place in Vijay. Jana Nayagan is not just a film. It is an emotional farewell for Thalapathy.
