Music composer Vishal Shelke, who has made the songs for the upcoming movie ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain – Fun on the Run,’ spoke about Arijit Singh’s decision to take a break from playback singing. He shared his own thoughts to clear the confusion and comfort fans. Recently, Arijit’s announcement about stepping away from singing worried many fans, who thought he might be leaving music completely. However, Vishal Shelke has clarified Arijit Singh’s decision.During his interaction with Moneycontrol, Vishal explained that there’s more to Arijit’s decision than meets the eye. Shelke mentioned that after speaking to Arijit personally, he realized the singer isn’t retiring but simply shifting his focus toward other musical pursuits. “Arijit has only decided to not sing playback. So he will continue doing music. I had a word with him after the decision. He will be continuing to do independent singles; he has his own channel. So he’ll continue to do music, and then he will continue to do the concerts,” he said.
Arijit Singh’s growing interest in filmmaking
Talking further about the singer’s choice, Vishal revealed that Arijit’s move stems from his growing passion for storytelling and creativity beyond music. He pointed out that Arijit has always been deeply interested in filmmaking, and this new direction feels like a natural progression for him. “I also already know that he has a lot of passion for filmmaking. So he would be creating his own film. So that is the area where he is kind of focusing. So that is the reason behind his retirement,” he added.

Last month, Arijit Singh surprised his fans by announcing on Instagram that he would no longer be taking up new playback singing projects. Sharing the update, he wrote, “Hello, happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
