Vivek Oberoi has finally addressed the speculation surrounding his alleged disappearance from films, putting to rest rumours that a 2021 on-set accident forced him to step away from the industry. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the actor made it clear that while the incident was serious, it never curtailed his ability to take on physically demanding roles.

Responding to chatter linking the accident to his supposed exit from acting, Oberoi said the assumptions were misleading.
“Recently, there has been some discussion suggesting that an accident on set affected my ability to perform physically demanding roles, implying that it led to me leaving the industry. The accident was serious. I sustained multiple fractures and underwent surgery, which included the insertion of an 18-inch titanium rod in my leg,” he said.Despite the severity of the injury, the actor stressed that it did not mark the end of his acting journey.
‘Recovery was challenging, but I was back on my feet in months’
Oberoi described the recovery phase as physically and emotionally taxing, but credited his medical team for helping him bounce back swiftly.“Recovering from it was challenging, both physically and mentally. But thanks to Dr Ali Irani, former physiotherapist for the Indian Cricket Team and Head of Physiotherapy at Nanavati Hospital, and his team, I was able to regain full mobility in about three months,” he shared.Highlighting the intensity of his rehabilitation, the actor added, “Their skill, guidance, and support made it possible for me to get back on my feet, dance, and perform demanding action sequences so soon after such a major injury. They did a fantastic job, for which I remain deeply grateful.”
‘The setback didn’t slow my career’
Calling the accident a brief interruption rather than a turning point, Vivek Oberoi reflected on his journey in cinema.“Looking back, the accident was but a blip in what continues to be a fulfilling career, one that would not have been possible without the extraordinary care, guidance, and expertise of Dr Irani and his team,” he said.
He added that the recovery allowed him to continue pushing boundaries as an actor.“It is because of him that I was able to seamlessly perform some of my most challenging roles, like Omkara (2006), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Mission Istanbul (2008), Prince (2010), Krrish 3 (2013), and many more, pushing the envelope in the craft I love without compromise,” he concluded.
Work front
Vivek Oberoi, who made his debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002), has featured in several notable films across genres over the years. He is now set to appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.
