The deleted scene that still moves Sunny Deol

While appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Sunny Deol looked back at ‘Border’ and shared a deeply personal memory. When asked about his favorite scene from the film, he spoke about an emotional sequence that never made it to the final cut. The moment, he said, was powerful and painful.Describing the scene, Sunny recalled approaching a bunker near a small temple and seeing firelight inside. There, he imagined his fallen soldiers sitting around the fire. He then addressed them in an emotional monologue. As he said on the podcast, “Mai unse baat karta hoon ki tu fikar na kar, mai tere ghar aake teri chhath laga di, mai jaake teri maa nu mil lita hai” (I speak to them and tell them not to worry. I tell them I will come to their home, fix their roof, and go meet their mother). He continued, “For me they are dead and I am telling them ki tum log jis duniya me ho, wo Jannat hai, wahaan kahi ladai nahi hoti” (that the world they are in is heaven, where there is no fighting). “Wo mai padta tha, jaise abhi rona aa raha hai, waise rona aa jaata tha” (Whenever I read it, I would feel like crying, just like I feel right now). “Itna payara scene tha wo” (It was such a beautiful scene).Sunny revealed that the scene was removed because the film had become too long. As he spoke about it again, he fought back tears, a clear sign that the moment still stays with him years later.
