Song Mino might face jail time

According to reports shared by Herald Corp, famous idol Song Mino might face major repercussions after violating his military mandate. As per the investigations, the singer was absent from his duty for at least 8 days.The investigation into the matter has also revealed he allegedly used to leave his workplace without getting proper authorization from the required personnel as well. His cell phone and GPS data were tracked and investigated, revealing that there had been additional days where he was not present at his work location beyond the initial report of the 8 days of absence.As per the report, the long list of unauthorized absences from his work occurred somewhere between March 2023 and December 2024.

Why can this land Song Mino in jail?

Since Mino was not present at his workplace for more than 8 days, he might face jail time; however, nothing has yet been decided, as the investigation is still ongoing. Under the official Korean Military Service Act Article 89, if a person serving their mandatory military service leaves their post for 8 or more days, they can be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison, depending on the official court ruling. Song Mino served his military service working as a social service worker. Recently, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office had indicted Mino for violating the Military Act.
