India to UK: Can’t apply freedom of speech selectively | India News

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over Khalistan supporters disrupting screenings of the movie ‘Emergency’ in the UK, MEA on Friday said freedom of speech cannot be applied selectively.
“We consistently raise concerns with the UK government regarding incidents of violent protest and intimidation by anti-India elements, freedom of speech and expression cannot be applied selectively and those obstructing it must be held accountable,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. “We hope that the UK side will take appropriate action against those responsible,” he added.
Responding to queries on Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s presence at an inauguration event of US President Donald Trump, MEA said, “We will continue to raise matters which has bearing on our national security with the US govt.” Pannun was also reported to have raised pro-Khalistan slogans at the event.
