Rajesh Kumar Pandey | TNNDumka: A partially burnt body of a middle-aged man was found lying beside a highway near Bogli village under Jarmundi police station limits in Dumka district on Sunday.Police said passers-by first noticed the body and alerted local residents. The body was burnt to such an extent that it could not be identified on the spot.A team from Jarmundi police station rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and began an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic evidence is being collected to determine the circumstances of the death.Police said the deceased’s identity is yet to be established. Missing persons reports registered at nearby police stations are being verified, and local residents are being questioned for clues.Police suspect the body may have been set on fire after murder in an attempt to destroy evidence and conceal the victim’s identity. However, other possibilities, including accidental death followed by burning, are also being examined.“A detailed investigation is on. The deceased has not yet been identified. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and forensic evidence is being collected,” said Jarmundi SDPO Nawal Kishore Singh adding that all possible angles were being investigated.“The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem and forensic reports are received,” the SDPO added.
