Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at his residence in Mumbai. The actor had been in and out of hospital for a while before he passed away. While reportedly the actor is known have left an estate of Rs 450 crore before he passed away, he also has an ancestral property worth Rs 5 crore in Punjab. The actor who has always been connected to his roots, chose to give his property to a family member and not his children and here’s why. New details have surfaced suggesting that Dharmendra chose not to pass down his ancestral property to any of his children — Sunny, Bobby, Ajeita, Vijeta, Esha or Ahana. Instead, he decided to gift it during his lifetime to someone completely outside his immediate family. As per reports, he had made this will regarding his ancestral property eight years ago. Dharmendra’s roots trace back to Dango village in Ludhiana district, where he spent three meaningful years of his early childhood. The simple mud-and-brick house there — now worth several crore and it stands as a reminder of where his journey began. Despite his move to big cities and the towering success that followed, his emotional connection to that piece of land remained unshaken. This attachment explains why the actor drafted his will almost a decade ago, well before his health started declining. His choice regarding the ancestral property wasn’t influenced by wealth or inheritance politics but by a deep sense of duty passed down within the family. As Dharmendra’s career blossomed, he shifted away from Punjab but remained aware that the ancestral home needed constant upkeep. His own children, settled elsewhere, would have struggled to maintain it. His nephews, on the other hand, continued living in the region, caring for the land and preserving its sentimental value. The property, estimated at nearly ₹5 crore, was gifted to his uncle’s grandsons, among them Boota Singh, who continues to work at a textile mill in Ludhiana.
