Kalki Koechlin talks about work hour shifts
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Kalki Koechlin, who was promoting her international film ‘Her Song’, was asked about the difference between the global and Indian productions. In her answer, the actress talked about work hour shifts. Kalki said, “Rarely has my 12-hour shift here ended or begun on time. It’s even more exhausting for the crew, who work longer hours.”The actress stated that even when she was shooting for ‘Goldfish’ (2023) in London, strict rules were set with one-hour lunch breaks and everyone getting the seventh day off.She added, “I believe we can learn a great deal from that to create a happier set. The chaos we work with here isn’t necessarily healthy for creative work.”
Kalki Koechlin talks about the difference between Indian and international productions
In the same interview, the actress also shared that the crew was quite concise. She said, “The fun and coolest part was how tight and concise the crew was!”She further shared that in India, a crew of no less than 100 people is always present on the sets. Koechlin added, “It can be chaotic and noisy where you’re trying to concentrate.”Kalki expressed that there is a lot of “shaant (peace)” on the sets of international productions, and according to her, India could learn from that. She said, “As for them, I think they could learn from us how to heighten emotion without it feeling over-the-top.”

Kalki Koechlin stated that her film ‘Her Song’ will be screened at film festivals and theaters as well. The actress stated that she is currently shooting for a show in Mumbai and Kolkata. She shared that she would not be able to reveal more about it. Kalki expressed her desire to work in a comedy film. She said, “But I just wish for a nice comedy to come my way. That’s what’s missing from my life.”
