She went on to call the rising and prevalent trend of such medication as “terrifying” and “frightening.” In a new interview, the Oscar winning actress expressed deep concern over the choices people are making to alter their bodies.
Winslet finds weight loss drug trend ‘puzzling’
Speaking to the Sunday Times, Winslet, 50, said she finds the trend deeply concerning, particularly when it stems from poor self-esteem. Winslet said, “It is devastating. If a person’s self-esteem is so bound up in how they look, it’s frightening.”She noted the conflicting messages in Hollywood, where some actresses embrace their natural shape, while others “do everything they can to not be themselves” through medication. Additionally, Winslet chose to unleash her harshest criticism for the health risks, stating: “And do they know what they are putting in [their bodies]? The disregard for one’s health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f****** chaos out there.”

The ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ star also weighed in on the use of injectables like Botox and filler. She shared a wish for more women to accept the natural aging process.Winslet criticized the current idealized notion of beauty, asking, “What idea of perfection are people aspiring to?” and firmly placing the blame on “social media and its effect on mental health.” Winslet also affectionately shared her view on aging hands: “My favorite thing is when your hands get old. That’s life, in your hands.”

She recalled being subjected to “relentless bullying” and body shaming by the media after rocketing to fame at age 19 following the release of 1997’s Titanic.In a past interview with the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast in 2022, Winslet wished she could “turn back the clock” and confront the journalists responsible. She summarized the ordeal, stating she felt “so invaded” and adding, “That’s bullying, you know, and actually borderline abusive, I would say.”
