LinkedIn’s Grad’s Guide 2026 names these as fastest growing roles for fresh graduates in India

LinkedIn has released its Grads’ Guide 2026 report. The report from Microsoft’s professional networking service discusses the latest trends in the most sought-after job roles and industries for fresh graduates entering the Indian workforce. The report highlights a transformation in the job market, with an increasing need for roles such as AI Specialist, Generative AI Engineer, and Digital Content Creator. There is also a move towards more business-oriented or even people-oriented jobs. This report aims to provide information on the types of jobs in high demand due to recent market changes.

Which are the fastest-growing roles, sectors and hiring trends for graduates

According to the LinkedIn report, demand for early-career talent is rising across multiple industries. While technology-driven roles continue to see traction, sectors such as Utilities, Education, Government Administration, Transportation and Logistics, and Energy Technology are also emerging as key hiring areas.Entry-level opportunities are expanding across functions, including Human Resources, Consulting, Information Technology, Marketing, Program and Project Management, and Business Development. Some of the fastest-growing roles identified in the report include AI Specialist, Generative AI Engineer, Digital Content Creator, Brand Representative, IT Specialist, Media Production Crew, Bid Manager, Category Manager, Technical Support Consultant, and Storage Engineer.Furthermore, the report claims that there’s a trend in hiring patterns, with small organisations becoming one of the most sought-after routes for graduates. The number of hires from organisations with 1-10 individuals increased by 64% among bachelor’s degree candidates and 168% among entry-level candidates between 2023 and 2025.Apart from this, hiring has expanded beyond traditional metro cities. There are various locations, including Vijayawada, Bhopal, Jaipur, Indore, Gwalior, and Vadodara, which are emerging as hotspots for job hunting. This helps the candidates explore different avenues within the country.Also, internships have become a primary criterion for recruitment in the entry-level job market. According to LinkedIn data, the percentage of entry-level hires with internship experience has increased across the Legal, Product Management, Consulting, Engineering, and Business Development disciplines. Moreover, postgraduate internships have seen remarkable growth across fields such as Program/Project Management, Engineering, IT, Media, and Marketing.LinkedIn expert Nirajita Banerjee, sharing guidance for graduates entering the workforce, said, “Don’t miss out on the ‘invisible’ job market. Your skills are more versatile than you think, and LinkedIn’s AI-powered job search is designed to prove it by showing you roles that match your background, even those roles and industries that you may have never considered.” She also advised candidates to focus on relevant roles, showcase practical work, stay organised throughout the application process, and build professional networks thoughtfully.
