PM Modi spotlighted critical environmental issues, emphasising the declining population of sparrows and the success of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. Modi lamented the impact of urbanisation on sparrows.
“In childhood, we watched sparrows on our rooftops and trees. Today, many children have only seen sparrows in pictures or videos.” He lauded Chennai’s Kudugal Trust, which trains schoolchildren to build wo- oden nests for sparrows.
