NEW DELHI: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare will meet on July 16 to discuss the conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) under the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019, weeks after the medical entrance examination was re-conducted following the cancellation of the original test over alleged paper leak.The panel, headed by Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav, will also examine the organisational structure, mandate and functional proficiency of regulatory institutions under the Union health ministry.The original NEET-UG examination, held on May 3, was cancelled after allegations of a paper leak and was re-conducted on June 21. The July 16meeting is expected to review the examination process and the role of regulators under the NMC Act.A day earlier, on July 15, the panel will meet to discuss the affordability and accessibility of healthcare facilities in the public and private sectors.
