NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate as the Chief Guest in the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on October 1 at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The event will begin at 10:30 am.On the occasion, the Prime Minister will release a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin, marking the RSS’ century-long contributions to the nation. He will also address the gathering of dignitaries, volunteers, and members of the Sangh.Founded in 1925 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the RSS was established as a volunteer-based organisation aimed at fostering cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility among citizens. Over the decades, it has grown into a people-driven movement for national reconstruction, with its vision rooted in Dharma and patriotism.The organisation’s stated goal is the “Sarvangeena Unnati” or all-round development of India, to which every Swayamsevak dedicates himself.The centenary celebrations aim to honour the historical achievements of the RSS while highlighting its contributions to India’s cultural journey and its message of national unity. The event will feature cultural programmes, speeches, and exhibitions reflecting the Sangh’s legacy and its ongoing work across the country.The RSS, which began as a small volunteer organisation, has expanded over the century to become a nationwide movement, influencing education, social work, and community development. Its focus on discipline, service, and national pride continues to guide its activities and volunteer initiatives across India.
