The prestigious honour was presented by Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar during the university’s grand convocation ceremony. Mammootty was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema over several decades. The university also honoured renowned nadaswaram artist Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon N Radhakrishnan during the same event. Speaking after receiving the honour, Mammootty shared a heartfelt message on social media. “Humbled to have received the Honorary D.Litt. from Mahatma Gandhi University today, presented by the Honourable Governor of Kerala. My gratitude to each and every one of you who stood by my side throughout this memorable journey,” he wrote. His emotional note quickly went viral among fans online.

Third Doctorate marks another milestone in Mammootty’s career
